We Bought Land!

We Bought Land!

It still feels surreal to type those words: We bought land! After years of dreaming, planning, and searching, we are now the proud owners of 5 acres on beautiful Whidbey Island in the Pacific Northwest.

For those who don't know us, we're Alex and Kat—two creatives who've spent most of our adult lives in cities, surrounded by concrete and convenience. But something was always calling us toward more space, more nature, more possibility. That calling led us here, to what we're affectionately calling Camp Greyhaven.

The Journey to Finding Our Land

The search wasn't easy. We looked at dozens of properties over the course of two years, each time trying to envision our future on that particular piece of earth. Too small, too remote, too expensive, too cleared, not enough character—there was always something that didn't quite fit our vision.

Then we found it: 5 acres of partially wooded land perched on a high bluff with stunning territorial views. The moment we stepped onto the property, we knew. This was it. This was home.

What Makes This Place Special

Our property is a beautiful mix of cleared areas and forest, giving us both the space to build and develop while maintaining the natural beauty that drew us here in the first place. The land slopes gently in some areas and dramatically in others, creating interesting microclimates and possibilities for different uses.

The views are absolutely breathtaking. On clear days, we can see for miles across the water and to the mountains beyond. It's the kind of view that stops you in your tracks and reminds you why you wanted to escape the city in the first place.

Our Vision for Camp Greyhaven

We're calling it Camp Greyhaven because we envision this place as more than just our home. We want it to be a gathering place—somewhere friends and family can come to disconnect from their busy lives and reconnect with nature and each other.

Our plans include:

  • Building a main house that balances comfort with sustainability
  • Creating guest accommodations for visitors
  • Establishing gardens and food forests
  • Building workshop and creative spaces
  • Developing trails throughout the property
  • Creating gathering spaces for events and retreats

The Work Ahead

Of course, raw land means we're starting from scratch. There's no power, no water, no structures—just beautiful Pacific Northwest forest and endless potential. The amount of work ahead is daunting but exciting.

We'll be documenting our journey here, sharing the ups and downs, the victories and setbacks, the lessons learned and the dreams realized. Whether you're thinking about making a similar leap or just enjoy following along with our adventures, we're glad you're here.

This is just the beginning of our Camp Greyhaven story. We can't wait to see where it leads.

Welcome to our wild journey!
